From Tricks to Treats: How I Overcame My Fears and Launched My Dream

So there I was, driving home from church, vibing to the radio, when a question popped up that hit me like a pumpkin to the face: “What have you tricked yourself into fearing, and what are you going to do to treat yourself out of that fear?”

And wow, did it make me pause! For almost two years, I had tricked myself into fearing the launch of my website. You know that little voice in your head that goes, “But… what will people think?” Mine went on and on: What if they don’t like it? What if they don’t see the value? They're talking about me behind my back, what are they saying? It’s like I was throwing a Halloween party for my doubts and insecurities, complete with a fear-filled playlist.

But after sitting on the sidelines for way too long, I finally realized something crucial: not only am I missing out, but so is everyone else who might love what I’m making. I mean, I LOVE creating unique items that bring joy to people’s lives—whether it’s that sassy mug that gives you a chuckle in the morning or that cozy sweatshirt with just the right vibe. And isn’t that worth sharing?

In the Bible, there’s a verse that says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). I took that to heart and decided to go for it, knowing that God wants me to step out, to love what I do, and to love the people who might benefit from it. After all, life’s too short to let fear decide my fate.
